Endodontics

Endodontics focuses on the treatment and diagnosis of the dental pulp present in the root canal cavity. A root canal infection can be quite severe, and in scenarios where it has been left untreated for a long duration, it could even lead to tooth loss. Hence, getting the oral condition addressed before it takes a toll on your oral health is crucial, which is often the difference between losing and saving a badly infected tooth.

What causes a root canal infection?

The most common cause of a root canal infection is an untreated cavity. When the cavity isn’t disinfected and filled with suitable filling material, it would gradually widen and grow deeper, eventually reaching the root canal cavity. When the microbes reach the dental pulp, it can lead to severe infection. Some of the other causes are gum disease, external injury to the teeth causing cracks or fractures, etc.
