Orthodontics/ Invisalign

Invisalign is a clear tray aligner that is used for orthodontic treatment. It helps to straighten the teeth by pushing the teeth to their desired position. Invisalign is made of clear and durable plastic, which makes it invisible on the teeth. At Twin Cities Dental, the dentists recommend orthodontics to patients who consider their appearance during orthodontic treatment.

Facts about Invisalign Aligner

  • Invisalign Aligner is invisible on the teeth.
  • It is customized to adhere to each patient's unique requirements.
  • The clear aligner is removable, unlike traditional braces.
  • Invisalign is comfortable compared to other orthodontic treatments.
  • Wearing an Invisalign aligner does not cause any discomfort or injuries to the patient.

What is the Procedure for Invisalign Treatment?

The dentist begins the Invisalign treatment after a complete evaluation of the patients' dental condition. Several X-Rays of the teeth are taken with the help of digital imaging systems, which provides better insight regarding the misalignment of the teeth. A treatment plan is drafted and discussed with the patient to move forward with the procedure.

The impressions of the teeth are taken and a 3D model of the Invisalign is designed and sent to the laboratory for fabrication. The aligner is fixed to the teeth and any adjustments if required are made. The patient should wear the aligners for at least 22 hours a day for a better outcome. Each patient requires a couple of Invisalign aligners to attain the results of the treatment.

Regular visits to the dentistry are mandatory to observe the changes made by the aligner. The duration of treatment differs for each patient depending on their dental condition. After the course of treatment, the dentist provides retainers to the patient, which should be worn to maintain the alignment of the teeth.

Aftercare for Invisalign

The dentist provides instructions to the patient regarding how to maintain the Invisalign. It is important to remove the aligner while consuming food as it can cause discoloration. The patient should avoid consuming hot beverages while wearing the aligner as it can melt the plastic material. It should be immersed in the cleaning solution when not in use and should be rinsed thoroughly before placing it back on the teeth.
